Calico Black Rat Snakes

Pantherophis spiloides

Calico black rat snakes are a morph that originated in Jefferson County, Kentucky, USA in what is now considered to be the range of Central rat snakes. It has been bred into Eastern rat snakes frequently so most are hybrids, but calicos typically maintain a consistently large size (5-6′ long) and heavy-set body. We currently keep three calicos, Beren (2018 male), Luthien (2018 female), and Maple (2021 female).
